The Huntington Beach Fire Department responded to a water rescue on Tuesday morning in the Santa Ana River near Brookhurst and Adams. They soon located a homeless man and woman underneath the Adams bridge trapped by fast moving water after heavy rain fell most of the night across Southern California.

Huntington Beach Lifeguards responded to assist in the rescue. Lifeguards secured the man and woman in chest deep water while firefighters on the bridge above lowered a stokes basket to hoist them to safety.

The man and woman were not injured and released on scene.
